Ken Kephart and Chet Hughes, interim extension director in Lancaster County, coauthored “Assessment of Producer Implementation of Pork Quality Assurance Good Production Practices.” The article reports on a study that examined the adoption of best-management practices by producers.
John Comerford recently presented an invited paper on “Biofuel Production and Intensive Livestock Production in the US” to the British Society of Animal Science in England. He also presented a lecture and toured the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute Centers in Northern Ireland. High feed-grain prices and the growing interest in "natural" foods have spurred both consumers and farmers to consider grass-fed beef, and a recent study done by Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences researchers may reinforce this trend.
