Where Imagination and Creativity Collide
Are you fascinated by the colors, patterns, and textures of fabrics? The textile design projects expose youth to the process of creating fabrics. Learn about how to weave, quilt, crochet, knit, and more!
Youth who participate in 4-H Textile Science programs develop life skills that include creativity, leadership, responsibility, sportsmanship, teamwork, community service, a positive attitude, critical thinking, problem solving and a sense of self-worth. Special equipment is not necessary for this project.
Learn about:
- Safety practices for using textile science equipment
- Following instructions to create a textile project
- Displaying your creation
- Choosing textiles and specialty tools
Participant outcomes:
- Members will learn perseverance from the design idea to the final project.
- Members will learn how to pick a pattern to create a project that fits their age and ability.
- This project will result in a project or product the member can wear or display.

Cloverbud Textile Science Opportunities
Youth between 5 and 7 can participate in our 4-H Cloverbud program! This non-competitive program introduces young children to the world of textile science while focusing on creativity, safety and fundamentals.
