From stamps and coins to model cars and jewelry, anything that has meaning to you can be collected.

Youth who participate in 4-H Collectables programs develop life skills that include creativity, entrepreneurship, community service, a positive attitude, critical thinking, problem solving and a sense of self-worth.

Learn about:

  • The different types of collectables equipment.
  • Creating different types of preservation and storage.
  • Determining the value of collectables.
  • The history of what you are collecting.

Participant outcomes:

  • Members will learn how to preserve their collected items.
  • Members will learn to display their collection.
  • Members will learn what is a worthwhile investment when starting a collection.

  • Collector/Trader

Projects:

The Art and Science of Collecting: This beginning-level project is designed for youth 12 and older who have little or no experience with collectables. Younger youth may take this project under the guidance of an adult helper. This project may be repeated if a specialization is selected, new goals are set, and additional sources and activities are used to supplement this project book.
