Young 4-H members from across Pennsylvania recently took part in a day-long event called State Leadership Conference, Junior. One hundred participants, aged 10-13, attended the conference at Penn State's University Park campus. The theme was "Unlocking the Power Within."

Ronak Suchindra, 17, a 4-H member from Chester Springs, is going full "STEM" ahead as a $5,000 scholarship recipient and 2025 National 4-H Council Youth in Action Award winner. Suchindra was selected for creating Kids Connect, a platform that offers STEM — science, technology, engineering and math — workshops to youth across the country.

Recently, a group of twenty Pennsylvania 4-H'ers had the unique opportunity to visit Google's Pittsburgh office. While there, they presented their STEM and AI-related projects to volunteer Googlers, who provided insightful feedback to help further develop their ideas. In an exciting surprise, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, and Maggie Johnson, Global Head and Vice President of Google.org, made an appearance to meet and encourage the 4-H'ers.

Quality Animal Management (QAM) is becoming Club-Level Education! 2024-25 will be the last 4-H program year in which QAM is taught as a stand-alone training program, as well as the last year in which it's explicitly called "QAM".

For Penn State alumni and lifelong friends MeeCee Baker and Jeff Conrad, 4-H played a pivotal role in their lives as youth in Pennsylvania. With the goal of opening doors for young people in the county where they grew up and inspiring others to support 4-H in their own communities, Baker and Conrad created an endowment to cover the membership fees in perpetuity for all youth who want to participate in 4-H in Juniata County.

Pennsylvania 4-H’ers recently competed in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championship in Grand Island, Nebraska. The competition included 708 4-H youth ages 14-18 from 40 states. Pennsylvania sent 16 participants and five coaches.

Pennsylvania 4-H'ers recently competed in animal science knowledge contests at Penn State’s University Park campus. Youth aged 10-18 participated in events such as the dairy bowl, horse bowl, hippology contest, livestock skillathon, and rabbit and cavy bowl and skillathon. They also competed in animal judging events for dairy, horse and livestock and in a new meat judging contest for seniors.

Two teams of Pennsylvania 4-H members recently participated in the hippology contest at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress, the world's largest single-breed horse show. Held at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus, the show attracts 650,000 people and is hosted by the Ohio Quarter Horse Association, a state affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association.

A team of Pennsylvania 4-H members from Perry County — Evan Fleisher, Sadie Innerst, Julie Loy and Gavin Neff — recently earned honorable mention in the 4-H dairy quiz bowl at the North American International Livestock Exposition. Innerst earned second place in the individual written test.
