Youth who participate in 4-H Cake Decorating programs develop life skills that include creativity, teamwork, entrepreneurship, community service, a positive attitude, critical thinking, problem solving and a sense of self-worth.
Learn about:
- The different types of cake decorating equipment.
- Creating different frostings.
- Working with fondant, butter cream and royal frosting.
Participant outcomes:
- Members will learn how to decorate cakes, cupcakes, and cookies.
- Members will learn how to make different types of frosting.
- This project will result in a decorated cake they can exhibit or display.
Youth interested in Cake Decorating can explore careers like:
- Baker/Pastry Chef
- Business owner
- Cake decorating instructor
Projects:
- Cake Decorating: Supports youth in their development of four levels of design and technique. Members will start with a single layer and progress to stacked cakes each step combines technique and creativity into a tasty masterpiece.
Cloverbud Cake Decorating Opportunities
Youth between 5 and 7 can participate in our 4-H Cloverbud program! This non-competitive program introduces young children to the world of Cake Decorating while focusing on fundamentals.
