In Pennsylvania, 4-H is open to all young people regardless of where they live, what their background is, or what interests them.
In the Pennsylvania 4-H program, we believe in the power of young people. We see that every child has valuable strengths and real influence to improve the world around us. We believe in developing young people who are empowered, confident, hard-working, determined, responsible and compassionate - seeing a world beyond themselves so that they have the life-long skills to succeed in college and career.
Youth ages 5 to 18 complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture, and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Based on their interests and guided by adult mentors, youth develop their own pathway in 4‑H. They select from a broad menu of local 4‑H programs. There are hands-on, learn-by-doing, opportunities for everyone!

About 4-H
4-H members join local clubs where they complete projects in particular areas of interest. A project helps members build skills, expand their knowledge, and learn about careers. Screened adult volunteers provide club leadership and facilitation of educational programs. Any child between 5 and 18 years old can become a Pennsylvania 4-H member.
Membership
Cloverbuds are children between 5 and 7 years old before January 1 of the current year. These members engage with age-appropriate educational opportunities that are non-competitive.
Youth between 8 and 18 years old before January 1 of the current year, living anywhere in Pennsylvania, can join the program and participate in educational and competitive events.
Cost
Members pay a fee to cover educational materials. Additional fees vary by county and project area. Financial assistance is available.

Explore the clubs and projects offered in your county and determine the club(s) you would like to join. Contact your county educator will help you determine which club is right for you and assist you with enrolling in 4-H.
If a club or project area you are interested in is not offered in your county, contact your county educator about opportunities and procedure for starting a new club. If you are unable to enroll online, contact your county 4-H educator for assistance.
