The first option (#1) is the "Exploratory Track," designed for youth 4-H ages 7-11. It will include hands-on wildlife and forestry educational activities and guest speakers. This year's theme for the Exploratory Track is "Adaptations." No advanced study is required for the Exploratory Track. Just bring your enthusiasm!

The second option (#2) is the "Science Track." It will offer youth ages 12-18 a chance to participate in a series of educational sessions (different every year) to increase their knowledge and skills related to wildlife and forest sciences. The sessions will bring to life the topics and content found in the 4-H wildlife and forestry projects books. This track will educate and inspire participants to investigate these projects, natural resources, and their associated careers. No preparation or prior experience with wildlife and forestry 4-H projects is required to participate. 4-H leaders and parents are welcome to attend as well. There will be an OPTIONAL interactive quiz at the end of the day to assist the organizers in determining who might be prepared and interested in attending one of the National 4-H events related to these subjects.

New Update for 2024, for age-eligible members interested in qualifying for Nationals Only – The selection process for National WHEP and Forestry Contests has changed. Folks interested in attending either national event are required to take the quiz in order to qualify. Instead of the top 4 quiz winners, age-eligible (minimum age 14 as of January 1, 2024) members are to form a team and indicate that team during registration for Wildlife and Forestry Field Day. Team members do not need to all be from the same county, but they do need to indicate the quiz they intend to take. Teams must have a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 4. All team members must be willing to attend the national event they intend to take the quiz for.

Lastly, all Field Day attendees should dress for the outdoors; the event will be held rain or shine. They should also bring along their own bag lunch and drinks.

There is a $15 registration fee for all participating youth. Fees will cover all workshop supplies and a t-shirt for all registrants. Some counties may provide a county scholarship for their participants. If so, those scholarship adjustments have already been made, and your fee will reflect the adjustment when you checkout. You can pay your registration fee at the time of registration by credit card or by mailing a check made payable to Penn State University to PA 4-H State Office, Attn: Wildlife and Forestry Field Day, 115 Agricultural Sciences and Industries Building, University Park, PA 16802. Payment must be postmarked or received by April 23 for registration to be complete and your spot to be held.

All youth and screened volunteers planning to attend must register through ZSuite. Members and volunteers must have an "active" ZSuite status in order to register (cannot be in pending approval or pending payment status). Sign-up deadline for this event is April 22, 2024.
