High school seniors are invited to learn more about the Department of Animal Science and meet faculty and students.

Penn State's Department of Animal Science is inviting high school seniors to a Prospective Student Open House on Friday, October 19 at the University Park Campus. Open to seniors who want to learn more about the Animal Science Major, the event will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the campus and farms, learn about the admissions process and interact with students and faculty.

Eight undergraduate students clubs sponsored by the Department of Animal Science are helping to host the Open House and will highlight the variety of activities offered by the clubs. Many of these clubs are nationally recognized for their contributions, outstanding leadership and the variety of educational and travel programs they provide.

Dr. Terry Etherton, Head of the Department of Animal Science, said, "Our Open House is designed to help prospective students get an in-depth perspective of the breadth of our Animal Sciences programs. It is a unique opportunity to visit campus and learn about the University admissions process. Past attendees have found the visit to be extremely helpful as they weigh decisions about attending college."

Rachel Cloninger, Animal Science Advising Coordinator, said, "We look forward to welcoming prospective students to our campus. This day is designed to give them a close look at our programs and for them to have helpful conversations with our current students."

Registration for the event will begin at 8 a.m., followed by interactions with administrators, faculty and students. Lunch is provided, and there will be a visit to the University Creamery following the bus tour, with the program concluding at 4 p.m.
