The Collegiate Horsemen of Penn State (CHAPS) strives to educate the community about the equine industry, with students from all majors, all riding disciplines and all horse breeds.
They partnered with the Penn State Western Equestrian Team to have a horse at Penn State's Ag Day, held last week on the Creamery lawn. PSU Willie Be King, a Penn State owned and raised five-year-old gelding provided the opportunity for the students to educate the public about general horse facts and care.
The Ag Day event offered general education about agriculture and its impact. There were other live animals, machinery/equipment and a variety of activities to teach the public about the diversity of the ag industry.
A welcome bonus was free Penn State Creamery ice cream!
Members participated in the Meet A Farm Animal Day, held at Snider Ag Arena to educate elementary school students from around State College about farm animals.
CHAPS also holds a Penn State Horse Barn Open House each fall.
