The purpose of a County Council is to develop leadership and other essential life skills that will prepare teens for their future.

What is a County Council?

The purpose of a County Council is to develop leadership and other essential life skills that will prepare teens for their future. Membership age is 13-18 at the county level. County Councils are a stepping stone to serving on the PA 4-H State Council.

The following outlines the expectations of a County Council, as well as experiences that will prepare teens for the responsibilities of serving on State Council.

  • Enrolled in the PA 4-H Teen Leadership Project
  • Set goals for the program year
  • Participate in essential skill development workshops
  • Provide educational and leadership opportunities
  • Event planning at the local level
  • Advocate for and promote 4-H locally

County Council Awards Program

The PA 4-H County Council Awards Program was established to recognize outstanding achievement of PA 4-H teens who are taking part in their local County Council.

Applications are due annually on October 1.

The top three councils will be recognized at the State Leadership Conference. Awards are made possible through funds raised in the Tractor Supply Paper Clover Campaign.
