Provides 4-H members with the opportunity to compete at the state level in five disciplines: Air Pistol, Air Rifle, Archery, Riflery and Shotgun. Contests are designed to challenge a 4-H member's skill and knowledge, and to recognize demonstrated abilities, marksmanship, and concentration.

Aim for success.

The focus of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens. The 4-H Shooting Sports Program stands out as an example. Youth learn marksmanship, the safe and responsible use of firearms, the principles of hunting and archery, and much more. The activities of the program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth, and conservation ethics.

The Pennsylvania 4-H Shooting Sports Competition is the culmination of the dedication and hard work of its participants. This is the qualifying event for the National 4-H Championship, held annually in June in Grand Island, Nebraska.

The goal of the 4-H Shooting Sports Contest is to test member's acquisition of knowledge, development of life skills, and attitudes so they may become self-directing, productive, and contributing members of society.

Participants must by 13 years old as of January 1. They must have previously completed the project of which they are competing. The member must register through their county 4-H Educator to confirm they are eligible to participate and that they have practiced with their discipline instructor who has verified they are safe to participate.

Per discipline, counties may send up to one (1) team per age division. There are two age divisions, Junior and Senior. A team consists of up to four (4) members of the same discipline, although teams may consist of less than four (4). Counties unable to form a team may send up to four (4) individuals in a single discipline.
