A new opportunity for the youth of Mifflin County has been slated to begin this April in Milroy, PA and based at the Siglersville Men’s Club/Reeds Gap State Park.

Clint and Angel Lauver of Milroy have organized a 4-H club to be called the East End 4-H Community Club. Their hope is to be able to provide the youth in that particular area of Mifflin County, and the whole county itself, with the opportunity to get involved in some of the unique projects that 4-H can offer and have the youth benefit from the experiences they are able to provide.

The Lauver's plan to offer projects that current 4-H members in the club are interested in, but for this year they are primarily looking at offering projects that focus on the Outdoors and Environmental Science. They are looking to provide experiences to the 4-H members on Outdoor Survival Skills and First Aid, Outdoor Cooking and Campfire building, Camping and Hiking, Wildlife and Fishing.

All these projects will be supported by expert workshop presenters and 4-H curriculum to support the activities the club with participate in. The Lauver's hope to get the 4-H members involved in these unique and interesting project areas and provide the youth with life skill development that will contribute to a positive future for the youth as they grow.

The East End 4-H Community club will also be providing lessons and 4-H projects such as woodworking, baking, sewing, rocketry, cake decorating and babysitting.

4-H is open to any youth ages 8-18 (as of January 1st). Anyone who is interested in learning more about how to get involved in the East End 4-H Community Club can contact the Extension Office in Lewistown at 717-248-9618.

The East End 4-H Community club invites any youth who is interested in getting involved to come out to their meetings at the Siglerville Men's Club/Reeds Gap State Park on the 1st Wednesday's of the month at 6:00PM. (Call for specific monthly location!) We hope to see you there!
