NBS Spreadsheet Version 6.2 – November 2022 has been released by the Act 38 Pennsylvania Nutrient Management Program. Planners can use any revision of Version 6 however the best practice is to use the most recent revision when starting a new plan.

If a planner experiences the problem summarized below, then NBS Version 6.2 – November 2022 must be used.

The updated NBS can be found on the Nutrient Management Website in the planning tools section.

The following updates were made to NBS Version 6.2.

Update to eliminate Microsoft resource error message

Users reported getting an error message:

“Excel ran out of resources while attempting to calculate one or more formulas.  As a result, these formulas cannot be evaluated”

This error message was first reported Nov 2, 2022. It is believed to be due to a recent Excel version update.  Not all users will see this error message.  If you get this error message then you will need to update to the most recent NBS version.

Current NBS files can be transferred to the new version.

When you complete a file transfer, planners may have to click OK on the resource error message about 4 times during the transfer, whenever the old plan that is opened then activated for copying the information.

After the transfer, close the NBS Version 6.1 file or close both files and re-open the Version 6.2 file. The reason for this is every spreadsheet open will calculate and not just the visible one.

As a reminder, there is a detailed description of all the updates to the NBS in the Version Updates tab of the NBS spreadsheet. It is also the most recent update posted on the website in the “News” section.
