Dairy Cattle Reproduction Certificate Program for Dairy Workers

Posted: March 17, 2014

The Penn State Extension Dairy Team is offering the two-day certificate program for current and beginning dairy workers.

Penn State's Extension Dairy Team will offer a Dairy Cattle Reproduction Certificate Program in Bradford County taught in both English and Spanish for current and beginning dairy workers. This two-day introductory level certificate program will have both a classroom session and an on-farm component.

The first session will be held on April 9 at the Troy Vet Club, 183 Veterans Drive, Troy, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cattle reproduction theory will be stressed in the classroom component. A second on-farm session, also in Bradford County, will be held on April 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. where students can put into practice what they have learned.

This certificate program is designed for current dairy production workers and producers, recent high school graduates who may be seeking a career in the dairy industry and new dairy employees who would benefit from training to be more productive.

Class size is limited so interested dairy producers and employees are urged to register early. Cost is $250 for the two day course. Classes will be taught by a team of dairy extension educators, Penn State faculty and key agribusiness individuals.

The intensive program includes lunch on both days, materials, customized laminated protocols and a certificate upon completion of both days.

This program is eligible for 2 SmartStart Credits from AgChoice Farm Credit.

Genex Cooperative, Inc. is a sponsor of this certification program.

Extension dairy team personnel can also develop a customized on-farm course to fit the specific needs of a farm, tailored to individual needs and bringing the most up-to-date and relevant information on timely trends and best practices.

Registration can be done online at or by downloading a registration form and mailing to Penn State Extension Dairy Team, 324 Henning Bldg., University Park, PA 16802. Deadline is April 1.
