Penn State Equine Sale History:
Penn State has been showcasing its Equine Science program and selling quality American Quarter Horses for over twenty years. It all started with a livestock marketing class taught by Dr. Nancy Diehl and Dr. Keith Bryan in 2002, which focused on teaching students how to successfully market a variety of animals. In the spring of 2003, Brian Egan took over teaching the class while continuing to collaborate with Dr. Bryan to improve the class. Over the years, students have become more involved, returning after taking the class to become committee chairs, assistant sale managers, and sale managers. Most of the sale today is entirely student-run. The sale allows students to become fundamentally engrained into the Equine Science program and learn about many aspects of the equine industry.
