Penn State Block and Bridle's Fresh Fall Start

Posted: October 17, 2013

Block and Bridle Club welcomes new members; will host Calf Sale on October 19.

The Penn State Block and Bridle Club members are putting on their boots and gearing up for another exciting, memorable and busy fall semester.

The annual Block and Bridle Club Calf Sale will take place this Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 in the Snider Ag Arena following the conclusion of the Club Calf Show. Please join us in a day full of Pennsylvania's finest selection of quality club calf steers and heifers, a benefit Fun Auction, and great food sponsored by the Block and Bridle Club. The Fun Auction will feature crafts, baked goods, various agribusiness donations and even a few dedicated club members' time to rake those pesky leaves still sitting in your yard that need to be cleaned before Old Man Winter shows up at your door.

The first event of the year was a Welcome Back Picnic for current members and potential initiates held on September 5. With an outstanding turnout including several new members eager to begin the year, the picnic offered delicious food and fellowship and also proved that the Penn State Block and Bridle Club of the 2013-2014 academic year will not go unnoticed.

The club has had several meetings and welcomes any student of the College of Agricultural Sciences who is interested to join a club committed to service, leadership, and fellowship. The next general meeting will be on October 31, 2013 in the auditorium of ASI. Those wishing to become official members of the Penn State Block and Bridle chapter must complete four initiation credits in one semester which can be achieved through the participation in our activities and service projects.

We hope to make this year a fun and rewarding experience for all of our members and look forward to serving our community through our future events. Other events to stay tuned for are the Crop Walk held in State College on October 20th, several Blood for Bats donations throughout the semester, mare groomings, and our annual fall Meat Sale fundraiser.
