Learn Effective Calf Management Techniques with Hands-on Workshop
Posted: November 5, 2012
With dairy calf mortality having a significant negative economic impact on dairy farms, the workshops will help producers reduce calf mortality and learn valuable information for successful calf care.
Both sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
* November 20 in Bradford County, Edgewood Restaurant, 565 Elmira Street, Troy.
* December 5 in Blair County, The Park at Morrison's Cove, 201 S. Walnut Street, Martinsburg.
Topics will include protocols for delivering healthy calves, hands-on practice for delivering calves, how to conduct a new-born health exam, colostrum handling and feeding, and hands-on testing of colostrum.
A portion of this workshop will be held on a farm. Bring footwear that can be sanitized as well as warm and clean clothing. We will provide plastic boots.
